Wine Adank, Flascher Pinot Noir Herrenacker Graubunden AOC, 2022

Introduction

Flascher Pinot Noir Herrenacker Graubunden AOC is a very powerful and the rarest cuve in the collection of wines of the Swiss brand, created from the single vineyard “Herrenacker”, which is located on the Flascher Feld estate. “Herrenacker” is planted with grape varieties of French clones, and Hansruedi Adank, who today mainly deals with the outside cultivation (his son Patrick now manages the cellar), knows each grape personally – at least that’s how it seems when he talks about his work. Father and son are passionate winemakers in the terroir that is so deeply rooted in their souls. After hand picking and selection in the vineyard , all the grapes are spontaneously fermented in open wooden vats. The Pinot Noir matures for 20 months in 228-liter French barrels containing 50% new oak. As always, the bottling was unfiltered. This wine shows French influence and the new energy of the young winemaker Patrick Adank. What the Adank family achieves here in terms of fullness and freshness, finesse and harmony of wines – just 300 meters from the Rhine – is certainly one of the best that Switzerland has to offer in terms of Pinot Noir.
