Wine Ampeleia, Cabernet Franc, Costa Toscana IGT, 2022

Introduction

Ampeleia, Cabernet Franc is a Tuscan biodynamic red wine that embodies the soul of the Maremma terroir. This is where the “Vigna dell’Asina” (“Donkey’s Vineyard”) vineyard is located. Cabernet Franc vines are cultivated biodynamically at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level on soils with elements of slate and limestone. Cabernet Franc is known for its unique ability to convey terroir characteristics and be the basis of wines with an exquisite taste. The harvest is collected in early October. Maceration – partially carbonic (20% of whole bunches) lasts about two weeks. The wine is aged for 9 months in cement tanks.
The name “Ampeleia” comes from the ancient Greek word meaning “branch of grapes”, which emphasizes the deep roots and traditions of winemaking.
