Wine Casadei, “Armonia”, Toscana IGT, 2022

Introduction

Casadei, Armonia, 2022 is a complex and harmonious wine made from Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and other red grapes from the estate. To give the drink a rich and interesting character, Stefano collaborated with many popular wineries such as Antinori , Gaja and Luca d’Attoma. The name of the wine translates from Italian as “Harmony”, hinting at its character.

The harvest is carried out manually when the berries reach optimum ripeness. At the winery, the berries are de-stemmed and softly pressed. The must is then cooled to 4 C for several hours. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26-28 C and lasts about 15 days. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in steel vats. The wine is aged for 10-12 months in 2nd and 3rd fill French oak barrels. After bottling, the wine is left to “rest” in bottles for 4-6 months.

The Casadei winery is a dream come true. In 1996, Stefano Casadei bought 15 hectares of land in Maremma, 15 km from the central coast of Tuscany, 90 km south of Livorno. The estate is located on the hills and is protected by mountains to the northeast. The vegetation is typically Mediterranean, with a predominance of cork oak and pine. Stefano combines in his work a love for the terroir, a passion for winemaking, his own intuition, new technologies and local traditions.
