Pinot Grigio for Col d’Orcia, Pinot Grigio is grown on alluvial terraces, on a hilly area with southern exposure overlooking the river Orcia and Ombrone. The vineyard is situated at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level. Planting vines dense enough. The grapes are carefully selected, berry picking is done by hand in the early morning hours to avoid too high temperatures. After collecting the Pinot Grigio is cooled in cold storage at a temperature of 8-10 C, and then gently pressed with subsequent separation of juice. Fermentation at 16-18 C lasts 10-12 days. Vintage 2013 was bottled early enough, at the end of December.
Tenuta Col d’Orcia – known winery in Montalcino, vineyards history which began in the first half of the XVII century, when the family of noble knights Siena Ciaia settles in Sant’Angelo and acquires the property of Colle. Col d’Orcia not only produces fine wines, but also constantly involved in research whose primary purpose is to optimize the quality of the grapes. Together with the University of Florence and Professor Attilio Sienese from the University of Milan they learn planting, breeding selection and connection quality vines with the perfect terroir. The result was the discovery and development of such famous wines as Brunello di Montalcino, Moscadello di Montalcino, Sant’Antimo and the Chianti.
