Wine Greenock Creek, “Alices” Shiraz, 2018

Introduction

Small vineyard “Elisiz” was bought by Michael Vo in 1997. Here he planted the vine Shiraz and in 2000 produced the first vintage wine of the same name “Alices” Shiraz. Special complexity and sophistication of the blame attaches to a slow shutter speed in American oak barrels in which the wine spends about 27 months. No filtering allows the wine to retain excellent structure and an unforgettable, exhilarating taste with hints of ripe fruit. Wine “Elisiz” 2009 is an excellent storage capacity – up to 2029.

In 1976, Michael and Annabel purchased in Radford Road farm, located in a hilly area between the villages and Marananga Greenock, on the western edge of the Barossa Valley. Then it looked like this: dilapidated 150-year-old house surrounded by a garden of almond and apricot trees with a tiny portion of the old vines varieties Shiraz, stretching along the creek. After a few years, thanks to substantial financial costs and tremendous effort on the part of the new owner, Radford Road has become a well-tended property, today known worldwide as “Greenock Creek Wines.”
The farm has grown only red grape varieties, of which five different wines made of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and two Grenache. Unique, cult wine “Greenock Creek” produced in very small quantities – only 2500 cases a year – and get them to their collection is considered to be a big success. “I was absolutely amazed at the quality of these wines … This massive, richly textured, extraordinary wine” – wrote in his revue about wines “Greenock Creek” renowned expert Robert Parker.
