Introduction

The 2021 vintage marks a new milestone in the history of Cepparello , the iconic Tuscan wine that embodies Paolo de Marchi’s philosophy. It is the last harvest entirely under his personal supervision, after the transfer of the winery to the new owners. The year was not an easy one: prolonged coolness in the spring delayed the start of the growing season, but a warm, dry summer with well-accumulated moisture ensured the perfect ripening of the berries.

The Sangiovese is selected exclusively from the estates best high-altitude plots, where the vines grow on poor clay-shale soils. Fermentation took place in conical vats with a delicate extraction to preserve the natural finesse and expressiveness of the variety. The wine spent 18 months in barriques, tonneaux and large casks, and then matured for another year in bottles before release.

“Cepparello”, 2021 is a wine of strict architecture and rare harmony. Its texture is silky and deep, and the taste is built on the balance of fresh acidity, fine minerality and noble tannins. Restrained power, subtle spiciness and a long finish make this release one of the most precise and elegant of the last decade.
