Wine Marchesi de Frescobaldi, “Lamaione”, Toscana IGT, 2017

Introduction

“Lamaione” – exclusive Supertuscan wine made from Merlot grapes grown in the vineyard of the same name in the Tenuta Kasteldzhokondo total area of 12 hectares, located at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level. The vines were planted here in 1976. The exposition of the vineyard – south-west, the soil – clay, rich in limestone and mineral elements.

2010 crop was harvested by 20 October. Spring of this year, accompanied by frequent rains, resulting in formation of considerable margin subsoil moisture is useful in the hot summer months. In September were warm sunny days and cool nights, which contributed to obtaining optimum harvest maturity. After the end of the 12-day fermentation of wort, which take place in stainless steel tanks at a temperature not exceeding 30 C, were produced by 4-week maceration and malolactic fermentation. Excerpt wine in new French oak barrels lasted 24 months. “Lamayone” has an excellent storage capacity – 10-17 years old, with wine can be drunk now.

For over 700 years, the family has been growing grapes in the heart of Tuscany, and its name is closely connected with the history of art, culture and commerce in the region. Since the second half of the XX century Frescobaldi were the main actors in the development of Tuscan winemaking. They were among the first who planted grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Cabernet, Merlot and Pinot, and began to use new techniques in the production of wine. At this time, there was a significant increase in business Frescobaldi family. In 1989 they were acquired by the biggest economy in the region, Brunello, and in 1995 signed an agreement with a California winery joint venture in Tuscany for the production and distribution of Tuscan wines of the highest quality in the world market.

Today Frescobaldi own nine names located in the best areas of Tuscany. There are elite wines, which are exported to more than 60 countries.
