  • The farm Tenuta Pian delle Vigne is located 6 km from Montalcino. In the XIX century the name “Pian Delle Vigne” wore a railway station located in the area. The farm occupies 180 hectares, of which 65 hectares of south-eastern part – the vineyards. The soils are clay, chalk and melkokamenistye. The vineyards are planted on the slopes at an altitude of 130-200 meters above sea level.

    “Pian delle Vigne” – monosortovoe wine producing grape Sangiovese, which in Montalcino is called Brunello. Selecting grapes for “Pian Delle Vigne” in two stages: first, in the first half of July (the so-called “green choice”), and then – just before harvest in autumn, which allows to select only the best for the production of clusters. Winter 2008 was rather dry and free of extremely low temperatures. Spring was characterized by frequent rainfall and night temperature fluctuations, which is somewhat slowed down the development of grapes. June-July, on the other hand, were quite warm, but rains in August, which contributed to accelerated development. In September came the warm, sunny days with the required temperature fluctuations from the heat of the day to the cool of the night, which provided excellent Sangiovese maturity to the top of the collection. The grapes were gently desteblirovan and gently crushed. Maceration takes place in special tanks of 125 hectoliters for 21 days under constant control of temperature not exceeding 28 C. During this time the wine completed alcoholic fermentation, after which it was immediately placed in large oak barrels from 30 to 80 hectoliters for malolactic fermentation . Matured “Pian delle Vigne” more than two years and in March 2012 it was bottled.
