Wine Pian delle Vigne, “Vignaferrovia” Riserva, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, 2018

Introduction

The farm Tenuta Pian delle Vigne is located 6 km from Montalcino. In the XIX century the name “Pian Delle Vigne” wore a railway station located in the area. The farm occupies 180 hectares, of which 65 hectares of south-eastern part – the vineyards. The soils are clay, chalk and melkokamenistye. The vineyards are planted on the slopes at an altitude of 130-200 meters above sea level.

“Pian delle Vigne” – monosortovoe wine producing grape Sangiovese, which in Montalcino is called Brunello. Selecting grapes for “Pian Delle Vigne” in two stages: first, in the first half of July (the so-called “green choice”), and then – just before harvest in autumn, which allows to select only the best for the production of clusters. First months of 2009 had been rainy, which resulted in a high-quality groundwater recharge. Spring was favorable, so the grapes are well developed and grew. The summer was dry and hot, but other than groundwater reserves have not given vines experience water shortages. After gathering the grapes were gently desteblirovan and gently crushed. Maceration and fermentation took place in special tanks of 125 hectoliters for 21 days under constant control of temperature not exceeding 28 C. After that, the wine was immediately placed in large oak barrels from 30 to 80 hectoliters for malolactic fermentation. The Braves’ Pian delle Vigne “more than two years and has been bottled in the second half of January 2013.
