  • Dry red wine “Magnacosta” created from grapes of Cabernet Franc. “Maniac” – a small vineyard area of 2.5 hectares. The soils contain large amounts of land round gravel formed by erosion edge of the hill under the influence of river flows. The first clones of Cabernet Franc, combined with well-kept ancient vineyard in Pomerol, were planted here more than 20 years ago. For centuries, in the French region of Pomerol with dead vines did so: carefully selected the best specimens that were cut off and plant elsewhere. Thus it was achieved large grape variety, reflected in the complexity of the future wine. Through this practice, mature vines growing on the farm today Treanor, very different from each other and from year to year produce more complex wines. Over time, the wine from grapes from the area “geek” has become so personal style that the owners have decided to release it to the market. Wine “Magnacosta” shows the development of the structure and floral character due to growing vines on deep soils, lying not far from the river bed.

Age of vines in the vineyard “maniac” is 22 years. The density of planting – 10 000 plants per hectare. The height of the vineyard altitude of 450-600 meters. Artificial pollination is not applicable, and pest control is carried out with organic preparations – spraying with a solution made of clay, propolis and grapefruit seed extract. Vintage 2012 gathered October 18-21. Alcoholic fermentation lasted 15 days. Exposure took place in two different capacities: 8 months in French oak barrels and 10 months in large cement vats. In March 2014 the wine was bottled. The potential for wine storage is more than 15 years.

Andrea Franchetti founded Tenuta di Treanor in 1992 with the aim to make the best wine in Italy. As a wine merchant, he was fascinated by the great wines of the right bank of the Bordeaux region. In his cellar, he wanted to repeat the experience of the wine while keeping Italian traditions. After several years of searching, Franchetti found the perfect place for the project near the village of Sarteano in southeastern Tuscany. Perched high on a hill overlooking the river Orcia, Tenuta di Treanor protected from marine influence from the west Mount Amiata and internal fog in the east mountain Cetona. The limestone soil rich in vineyards and clay gravel mixture. Planting of vines began in 1992 with international varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, as well as a small proportion of the Italian grape Chezane d’Affile. Franchetti produced two wines – “Tenuta di Treanor”, which is a blend of Cabernet Franc (80%) and the proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, and “Palazzi” created from an equal mix of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. These fabulous wines marked a great structure and concentration, layered taste with notes of ripe fruit and spices bulk, which give the wines an exotic character. At the moment the wine “Palazzo” is not produced, and in the line of wines from Tenuta di Treanor appeared “Le Cupole” (Dome) – a blend of all four major varieties grown.

“This is – one of the new superstars of Tuscany, whose owner – Andrea Franchetti – gathered his first harvest in 1997. He is obviously a perfectionist and does some things that nobody has never been made with Cabernet Franc outside Bordeaux, perhaps, but a few California wineries. All wines are made from grapes Franchetti vines with low yields, using indigenous yeasts and micro-oxygenation, without filtration before bottling. I – fan of his wines with the first releases, “- he said of the winery Tenuta di Treanor famous wine critic Robert Parker.
