Introduction

“Gasconia” Colombard-Ugni Blanc – fresh, well-balanced dry white wine made from Colombard and Ugni Blanc grapes, which are grown in the company’s vineyards in the north of Gascony in Cte de Gascony. The region’s terroir is twofold. The dominant maritime climate, influenced by the Atlantic Ocean, is giving way to a more continental climate in the east, where summers are warmer and drier and clay-limestone soils hold water more effectively. Closer to the coast, the soils of the vineyards are loose and sandy, with good drainage, more precipitation falls here. At the end of the harvest, the berries are sent to the winery, where they undergo classical fermentation in steel tanks with strict temperature control. The wine can be served with various fish dishes, seafood and shellfish, crustaceans, and it is also great as an aperitif.

Bori-Manu is one of the largest family-owned wine companies in France. Created in 1870, it was first called “Eugene Borie Freres”, as it was owned by the Borie brothers. After World War II, the brothers Marcel and Francis split up. Marcel became the head of the farm, headquartered in Bordeaux, and named it “Borie-Manoux”. Today the Borie-Manoux winery is engaged not only in the production, but also in the sale and distribution of its wines both in France itself and around the world. The current owner of the family business Philippe Casteja owns about 250 hectares of vineyards located in the best areas of the Bordeaux region – Haut Mdoc, Saint-Estephe, Pomerol, Saint-Emilion, Pauillac. The Borie-Manoux estate offers a wide selection of wines – high-quality table wines, Grand Cru wines from their own vineyards, as well as wines from small Bordeaux chateaux.
