Wine Vignobles Marie Maria, “Mont Durou”, Madiran AOC, 2018

Introduction

“Mont Durou” – elegant, full-bodied wine with strong tannins, bright acidity and attractive berry tones in taste and aroma. Tannat grapes for making wine are grown in a separate vineyard with an area of about 1.5 hectares, which has a southern and southeastern exposure and clay soil covered with pebbles. The site is divided at an altitude of 260 meters above sea level. The oceanic, temperate climate of the region is characterized by mild winters and hot, stormy summers. Harvested by hand in early October, when the grapes reach full phenolic maturity without going through the point of overripe. The grapes are destemmed and crushed. Fermentation in contact with the skin takes place in temperature-controlled tanks. Malolactic fermentation is also produced. Then, to give aromatic complexity and volume, the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, of which one third is new, one third is the second filling, one third is the third.
